We feel safer living aboard, being able to consult DIY.
-Robert Foose, "Anabas," Manhasset Bay, New York
I recently purchased my first and not the last copy of DIY and I must
tell you that your magazine has hit the mark! A publication for those
of us that either would like to do it ourselves or have to do it
ourselves!
-Dave Green
Love DIY I just wished it was published more often. It's become my favorite reading for boating info. Keep up the good work.
-David L. Roberts, Malvern, Pennsylvania
I've been a subscriber and hold every issue of DIY since your
inception. Great magazine and the best on this subject that there is.
-Charles Monroe, "Ebb Tide," Solomons, Maryland
I make DIY required reading by all employees at Ontario Boat and Engine
Works. There has not been an issue yet that someone hasn't learned
something from reading DIY. Your articles are super and technical
information is top notch. This publication should be an industry
standard for all in the boating business. I don't think there is a
finer boating publication anywhere in North America.
-Peter Godwin, Ontario Boat & Engine Works, Orangeville, Ontario
Thanks for the recommendation of Ultimate Sole Finish
(www.ultimatesole.com). It's great. I used it to finish the new teak
and holly sole I laid in my 1979 Carver 26' (7.9m) fly bridge sedan. I
recommend it to everyone.
-Frank Roberts, Calabasas, California
Having lived on the West Coast for many years, Carol and I have
acquired a variety of older wooden boats and skiffs and a collection of
old inboard and outboard marine motors. The maintenance of this
equipment is primarily my responsibility, which is why I await, with
anticipation, each issue of DIY both for the technical information and
to see photographs of other poor souls stuck working on their boats.
Thank you for a great magazine.
-Bill Smith, Prince Rupert, British Columbia
Customer service is often talked about but you deliver the goods. I
sailed on merchant ships as an engineer and owned a marina in the
Florida Keys, so I'm looking forward to a long relationship with your
excellent publication.
-Reagan Tucker, San Antonio, Texas
Congratulations on a great magazine. I can't understand why a
subscription to your magazine isn't mandatory before owning a boat!
-Marc Faubert, Serrano II, Gatineau, Quebec
I have been a DIY subscriber for one year. The articles are extremely
well written and helpful in maintaining my Maxum 2800SCR. The excellent
color photographs and the specificity of correcting a problem, install
an accessory or select an antifouling paint are all a tremendous
benefit to boat owners. You and your staff are to be complimented on a
job well done.
-Alan W. Gorenstein, Vienna, Virginia
Thank you for your prompt attention to my phone call and subscription
renewal. I'm delighted to be a subscriber and a beneficiary of the
knowledge and wisdom found in the pages of DIY magazine and in the
responses from your technical staff when a message requesting help is
submitted to the Technical Helpline.
-Paul D. Bohac. Panama City, Florida
I am very impressed with the rapid response by DIY. It confirms that customer service still exists in good companies.
-Jack Bokkers, Andrew James, Oshawa, Ontario
The magazine is a gem and the seminars shine bright. What we learned at
the seminar translated directly into results when we redid the faded,
chalky hull on our boat. She looks like a new boat now. You provided
the know-how and we took care of the rest, with great results. We, and
our boat, thank you.
-Steve and Pam Haines, Boaz, Kentucky
I love the magazine and the services you provide, more recently the
assistance through the Technical Helpline on propeller shaft packing. I
finally found a legitimate hobby, expensive, but a hobby nevertheless
and I’m having a ball with this whole thing. I wake up Saturday
morning, throw on my work clothes and go to my other job!
-James Discher, Irving, Texas
I wanted to let you know that after receiving help from the Technical
Helpline on my 1987 Catalina 30’s deck delamination, I followed your
advice and replaced the core. I removed a 2m by 45.7cm (7' by 18) wide
piece on the port and starboard sides. I was pleased with the results.
Also impressed were my dock neighbors who told me I was nuts to take on
this job. Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures. Thanks for the help.
I’ll be a faithful subscriber for as long as I’m into boating.
-Randy Sherwood, Charlotte, Michigan
Thank you for your help! It's really nice to know if I have some type
of boat maintenance question, I have someone to ask without feeling
embarrassed or stupid about asking the question.
-Steven J. Walke, Kitty, Panama City, Florida This is perfect, exactly the information I was looking for! -Mike Damon, Newtown, Conneticutt
You guys are the greatest! Thanks again for your help and keep up the good work.
-Philip W. O'Guin, Mcewan, Tennesse
You folks have a great magazine with informative articles and timely, practical advice. Keep up the good work. -Pat Murray, Port Alice, British Columbia
Thank you so much for all your advice and a great publication.
-William Vollmer, Elmhurst, Illinois
DIY is one of my favorite boating magazines, and is a great help in restoring my 1973 Gulfstar center-cockpit ketch.

Love the magazine, just wished it was published more often. It has
taken the place of Powerboat Reports as my favorite reading for boating
information.
