How often is DIY Boat Owner published?
DIY is published quarterly (four times each year) in both print and electronic format. It has been published since 1995.
How do I subscribe to DIY?
The best way to subscribe is on the Subscription Page (United States, Canada) of the DIY website, where you can see information about pricing. You can also call us toll free to place an order at 888-658-BOAT (2628).
How can I pay for a subscription or other products?
You can pay for a subscription or other products via credit card or check. When you use a credit card, the charge on your statement will show up as "Mad Mariner," which is the company that owns DIY Boat Owner. If you decide to pay by check, make checks payable to DIY Boat Owner and mail them to P.O. Box 15282, Washington DC, 20003.
Can I subscribe from outside the United States?
Yes. DIY has readers all over the world! In some cases, pricing is adjusted to cover additional costs associated with mailing you the magazine (see the Subscription Page (United States, Canada) on the website for details). There can also be problems processing online transactions from banks in some countries. If you experience difficulties, contact us using the Contact Page on the website or call us toll free at 888-658-BOAT (2628) and we'll help you process your order.
Who do I contact if I have a question?
The easiest way is to use the Contact Page on the DIY website, which allows you to explain clearly what you need. You can also call us toll free at 888-658-BOAT (2628), or send us mail at P.O. Box 15282, Washington DC 20003. We answer all questions as quickly as we can. Questions that come through the website are usually addressed the very same day and calls are addressed within 24 hours, though mail correspondence may take slightly longer.
Does my subscription come with an account (login) on the DIY website?
Yes – it does now. But that was not always the case. If you subscribed or bought anything from DIY before October 1 of 2009, you may not have been issued a login. But you can get one for free. Read below.

An account (login) in the DIY website allows you to do many convenient things, such as checking the date your subscription expires, reviewing your order history and changing your address. You can also read all of the content on the DIY website, which is updated regularly. If you subscribe to DIY Boat Owner's e-zine, the magazine's digital edition, you must have an account.

You must have an email address in order to have an account on the DIY web site. If you previously ordered DIY products by mail or phone, you probably do not have an active web account. If you have had an account in the past but don't remember the information, you can use the Forgot Password function and the information will be emailed to you. What is the DIY e-zine?
The DIY e-zine is the electronic edition of DIY Boat Owner. It is exactly the same as the print publication, except that it is delivered online. When the magazine is published, e-zine subscribers receive an email with a link that they can use to download the magazine. You can then print it or read it on your computer.
Why is the e-zine cheaper than the print magazine?
The e-zine is cheaper because it is produced electronically – and we don't have to pay printing costs! We pass on the savings to you.
How do I subscribe to the e-zine?
You subscribe to the e-zine the same way you subscribe to the print magazine. The best way to subscribe is on the E-zine Subscription Page of the DIY website, where you can see information about pricing. You can also call us toll free to place an order at 888-658-BOAT (2628), but remember that you MUST have an email address to access the e-zine.
Why does DIY want my email address?
We ask for your email address because we use it to contact you with important information – like when your subscription expires. For us, there is no better way to communicate. And no, we don't spam you.
Will DIY sell my name or email address?

What is the relationship between DIY and Mad Mariner?
Mad Mariner LLC owns DIY Boat Owner magazine. Mad Mariner LLC publishes DIY Boat Owner and the DIY-Boat.com website; MadMariner.com, an online daily boating magazine in English; MarineroLoco.com, an online daily boating magazine in Spanish; and MarineAdvertisingOnline.com, a blog for marketing professionals in the marine industry.
What is the relationship between DIY and BoatUS?
BoatUS owned DIY Boat Owner magazine from 2006 to 2009, when it sold the magazine to Mad Mariner. BoatUS and Mad Mariner cooperate on several projects, including sharing limited amounts of content between their various publications. But BoatUS is no longer involved in running DIY Boat Owner.
Do Jan Mundy and Steve Kalman still work at DIY?
Jan and Steve founded the magazine in 1995, and played an active role in producing the magazine until September of 2009, when they left on a much-anticipated cruise. Their advice and contributions are always welcome, but they are no longer actively involved in the day-to-day operations.
